These are hands down solid twigs. They’re obviously not a top of the line CCM or Bauer stick but they definitely rival it. They are very light and definitely what they advertise. I tested this by having my buddies close their eyes and handed them each a stick and had them tell me which one felt lighter. About 75% of the time they agreed the Hoapa was lighter…even when compared to sticks like the 1x Lite and Hyperlite.
The feel on the sticks is great. You can really feel the puck when stick handling and catching a pass. They’re a tad whippy so I recommend getting +5 on your flex and get it an inch or two taller so you can cut it. Better to be too tall and cut than too short.
I’d give it a 9/10 as a rating. For comparison, I’d rate a top of the line Bauer or CCM twig a 10/10. I have broken one of the Hoapa twigs so far but it was after repeated 1 timers…so no surprise there. That’s not to discount their durability though as I’ve been using them 6x a week for practice/games.
These are great sticks. A couple changes I would suggest…round the corners on a shaft a bit more. They are a bit too square for me and are more square than the shafts on many CCM and Bauer twigs. The graphics on the stick aren’t the best in my opinion. I’m not a huge fan of the two tone designs so I just went with the all black and they’re slick. The graphics are no reason to turn the stick down though. Change the font on the custom name plate. The bold block letter font you currently have looks a bit odd. Something more neutral would look better I think.
For $130 (after the 25% off when buying 2) these are well worth it. Way better than spending $300 for a stick that feels the same and lasts the same amount of time.
Overall:
Light sticks, handles well, feels like any other top of the line stick, not a cheap build (doesn’t break after 3 clap bombs), and is fully custom.
